Hydrocortisone Acetate is a corticosteroid which suppress the inflammatory response to a variety of agents and they delay or slow healing. Since corticosteroids may inhibit the bodya s defense mechanism against infection, concomitant antimicrobial drugs may be used when this inhibition is considered to be clinically significant in a particular case. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic originally isolated from Streptomyces venezuelae. It is primarily bacteriostatic and acts by inhibition of protein synthesis by interfering with the transfer of activated amino acids from soluble RNA to ribosomes. Development of resistance to it can be regarded as minimal for staphylococci and many other species of bacteria.

INDICATION AND USAGE

LACORT eye ointment is indicated in chronic anterior uveitis and corneal injury from chemical radiation, thermal burns, or penetration of foreign bodies. LACORT is active against common bacterial eye pathogens.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

A small amount of LACORT Ophthalmic Ointment is to be applied in the lower conjunctival sac of affected eye every three to four hours
