Rishikesh is only at the foot hills of the Himalayas and to access the real Himalayan Mountains you will need to drive about 10 hours from Rishikesh to Joshimath. We only drive during daylight hours as the mountain roads can be tricky in places. We drive upstream along the Alkhnanda River, one of the major tributary of the Ganga river to get to Joshimath. Overnight and meals at the hotel.
