Work principle:

• The total concentration of metal ions is known as water hardness. The most common in natural waters are calcium (Ca2 +) and magnesium (Mg2 +), that can combine with anion CO32- and HCO32- and form carbonate or bicarbonate. The content of other metal ions is less and can be ignored. Usually the concentration of calcium (Ca2 +) and magnesium (Mg2 +) is known as the total hardness of water.
• When raw water flows through the resin layer of the ion exchanger, the calcium and magnesium ions can be adsorbed by the resins, while the sodium ions and hydrogen ions are released, so the outflow is softened water. when the resins that have absorbed calcium and Magnesium ion achieve a certain level, the hardness will increase. At this time the water softener will automatically start to regenerate in accordance with the scheduled procedure. By means of high concentration of sodium chloride solution or acid solution, calcium and magnesium ions will be exchanged by sodium ions and hydrogen , and the resin get renewable.

• Salt consumption: regeneration of a liter of resin requires about 160-240 grams of salt.

• Time-type: is suitable for sites where the volume of daily water supply is relatively stable, and the generation time can be set based on users demands, which is simple and inexpensive.
• Flow-type: the operation of the equipments is controlled by the flow. when the flow of water reach the set value, the regeneration will automatically start. This type of system has features of higher accuracy, stability and reliability.
