Exclusive filmatic-tilting pad-spindle bearings: There are two bearing assemblies around the grinding wheel spindle, one at either end of the spindle, completely submerged in oil. Each assembly consists of three shoes (segments), which can rock slightly. Rotation of the spindle draws oil under the shoes forming a high-pressure wedge shaped film between each shoe and spindle. This high pressure wedge locks the spindle in one center of the rotation, regardless of direction or force f load. This constant center of rotation not only assures precision grinding results, but also makes possible heavier cut, rapid metal removal and quick spark out during the grinding operation.
