Presses are sturdily constructed to withstand the pressure to which there are subjected. The cylinder is either machined from solid steel or is an alloy steel cast. The Ram is made from alloy steel for lasting accuracy.The cylinder is bored and the Ram is ground, and hard-chrome plated. The bearings fitted into the neck of the Press are of phosphor-bronze. The stuffing box ring is made of mild steel and bolten to the cylinder.
