As the pressure to reduce routine maintenance and shutdown periods is increased, any significant time savings that can be made without compromising production are at a premium. One area where HAL can make a real time saving is in the draining of furnace contents prior to cool down.

Drilling one or more holes in the furnace and guiding the glass into a specially design water cooled sledge which is fitted with a high pressure water jet, which in turn carries, and sinters the molten glass and discharges in a predetermined area usually outside the factory.
