Lindia chemical carried out a test to determine the relative humidity and temperature in 2 containers loaded with 19 tons of grain, the container were stuffed in Guangzhou on Feb 4th 2014 and arrived in Antwerp on Mar 25th 2014.
All two containers were fitted with 10units of TOPDRY container desiccants, container no 1 has its ventilations sealed while container no 2 has ventilation open.

Result:
The main purpose for this test was to determine temperature differences between containers with closed or open containers.
During the test the container with closed ventilation did not show RH% over 90%, while the container with open ventilations close to 30% of the recording over 90% RH.

Conclusion:
The main purpose of using ventilated container is to reach equilibrium between outside and inside air in order to avoid condensation during temperature changes. While using TOPDRY desiccant is to actively reduce the RH inside container by collecting water molecules from the air. In order to function, it is necessary that the ventilations are closed. The test proved that TOPDRY desiccant that actively reduces humidity inside container than using ventilated container.
