There are two methods to produce PA: (1) Naphthalene oxidation method, under vanadium pentoxide catalyst, composed of naphthalene with air to produced PA by gas-phase oxidation; (2) o-xylene oxidation method, adopting o-xylene to instead of naphthalene as raw material, and its process is similar with naphthalene oxidation method.
Use of PA: At present, phthalic anhydride is widely used in chemical industry, medicine, electronics, agriculture, coating and fine chemical industry. Phthalic anhydride in China is mainly used in the production of phthalic acid lipid plasticizers, which accounts for about 60% of the total consumption of phthalic anhydride, 25% of dyes and paints, and about 15% of unsaturated resins and other products. Phthalic anhydride is an important organic chemical raw material, mainly used in the production of plastic plasticizers, alkyd resins, dyes, unsaturated resins and some medicines and pesticides.
