Key Features
ITC conduct variety of tests to determine the helmets performance and ability to stay on the head in different environment conditions like Moisture, Heat, Low Temperature, Ambient temperature and humidity conditioning.
Impact Test
This test involves a series of impacts where a helmet is positioned on a metal head form and than dropped in a guided fall on the various steel test anvils (Flat and Hemispherical anvil) which simulate different impact points. The conditioned helmet shall meet the requirements, when the resultant acceleration (RMS value of acceleration measured along the three directions) measured at the centre of gravity of the head form shall be a 150 gn (where gn = 9.81 m/sec2) for any 5 millisecond continuously and at no time exceed 300 gn.
Retention test of helmet
The helmet previously conditioned at ambient temperature and humidity, shall be placed on and secure to the appropriate head form. A device to guide and release a falling mass of 10 Kg form a height of 0.50 m.
After the test the angle between the reference line situated on the crown of the helmet and the reference place of the head form shall not exceed 30 0 .
Dynamic test of retention system
Sample selected for testing be prepared by drilling a hole at vertical axis on the top of the helmet than fix the sample on the appropriate head form.
