Fumigation under cover of Packing Material and / or commodity: (Fumigation for wood -the timber wood used in packing of commodity for export or for that matter, any plant produce being exported, is required to be free from infestation, according to the Plant Quarantine Requirement of different requirement of county.



It is generally observed that the timber used for the packing is brought at the exporter factory a

few weeks in advance from the wood crate/Pallet/Box suppliers. The infestation may not be

evident by simply looking at it. The signs of infestation become visible, as the time passes. Such

timber when used for stuffing of the container and fumigated may escape proper treatment,

because of various reasons.



The best way to avoid reaching of the live insects at the import destination is to keep initial bio

burden, as long as possible, before Fumigation of container. For the reasons given above, we

suggest that the umber may be fumigated under cover after assembling boxes, pallets or crates in

the premises of exporter under his supervision.

Fumigation of Containers; Inside the container there is risk of insect infestation as a result of previous cargo carried in the fumigation in the container infestable residues often accumulate in spaces behind linings of containers particularly if they been damaged at any time. These spaces provide favorable habitats for insects to shelter & bread.
