Fosthiazate is a soil-applied product with contact activity. Although fosthiazate was reported to have systemic activity, a report from the USDS suggests that it does not. It has both nematicidal and nematostatic activity. The product inhibits infestation of crops and nematode development in roots. It is most effective when incorporated into soil before sowing or transplanting. Fosthiazate also controls aphids. Thrips and mites. In fireld trials. Fosthiazate did not damage target crops although some leguminous plants suffered leaf scorch.
