A salient feature of Panorama Spectrofluorometer is that it is actually an instrument of dual use as Spectrofluorometer & Spectrophotometer, which operates in a pulsed mode with a Xe flashlamp pulse length of ~2 ms and 25 Hz pulse repetition rate. Therefore, the Xe lamp peak radiance is essentially higher (30 kW) than that of a 150-W Xe lamp commonly used in spectrofluorometers of other manufacturers, the mean power consumption being as low as about 10 W. This provides much longer service life of the Xe lamp and immunity to outside (stray) light exposure. In addition, this provides a very short response time and enables kinetic (stroboscopic) luminescence measurements basing on the capability of a wide-range automatic control of the delay and duration of the measuring gating pulse.
