Glass wool is an insulating material, made from fiber glass, arranged into a trxture similar to wool. After the fusion of a mixture of natural sand and recycled glass at 1,450 A C, the glass that is produced is converted into fibers. The cohesion and mechanical strength of the product is obtained by the presence of a binder that "cements" the fibers together. It is widely used for thermal and acoustic insulation applications, is available in rolls, slabs and high density rigid boards (known as MFMB).
