Fennel Processed (Variari)

The plant is biennial, aromatic, stout, glabrous and grows up to 1.5 to 1.8 mtr height. The ripe fruits of the trees are small, oblong, cylindrical and 6.8mm long. The seeds are straight or slightly curved, greenish yellow, deeply furrowed, 5 ridged and have strong aroma.

Origin and Distribution : Fennel is an indigenous to the Europe and Asia Minor. Further, it is also commercially cultivated in Northern India as a cold weather crop.

Geographical Condition: Fennel is ideal to be cultivated in mild climate. For high seed production, cold and dry weather are required. At the time of flowering, cloudy weather can cause diseases and pests in the plants.
