Fedseal

FED SEAL is a combination of natural and synthetic fibers and flakes designed to bridge and seal permeable formations. FED SEAL additive aids in preventing differential sticking caused by high fluid loss. FED SEAL agent's unique blend of fine and coarse particles makes it an effective one-sack product in loss prevention and lost circulation applications

Typical Physical Properties

• Physical appearance- Reddish fibers, granules and flakes
• Bulk density- 20-30 Ib/ft 3 (320-480 kg/m3)

Applications

FED SEAL additive is applied at a rate of 10-20 lb/bbl (160-320 kb/m3) for normal seepage control. Severe lost circulation may require 20-40 lb/bbl (320-640 kg/m3). FED SEAL filtration agent may be added directly to the mud hopper or suction pit. For severe lost circulation problems, FED SEAL agent may be applied as a pill adjacent to the casing shoe or at the bottom of the hole, depending on the location of the loss zone. Normal concentrations for pills and slug treatments range from 15-40 lb/bbl (240-640 kg/m3). FED SEAL filtration control agent may be used in water-, oil- and synthetic-base mud systems.

Advantages

Limitations

• Removed by shale shakers and solids control equipment; bypass these to prevent removal from the fluid system
• Biodegradable- use biocide if fermentation is detected

Bioassay information is available upon request. Handle as an industrial chemical, wearing protective equipment and observing the precautions as described in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)

Packaging and Storage

FED SEAL additive is packaged in 40-lb (18.1-kg), multiwall bags. Store in a dry location away from sources of heat or ignition.
