VOLTAGE:
Up to 500 volts, 50 cycles
A low voltage coil tends to give more power than the one of high voltage and is more robust as it uses thicker wire, voltage limits (high and low) depends on the size of the solenoids and its rating.
A solenoid can be wound for any voltage but even then in general high voltages on the smallest solenoid and very low voltage on the larger AC solenoid are both to be avoided.
TEMPRATURE:
The temperature of the coil when passing current is always over ambient room temperature (specifically more whenever a solenoid is enclosed) so care has to be taken in designing and reference temprature is to be taken as 75C whereas ambient temprature is about 30C. In this way the adaquate margin is maintained from safety point of view.
