This method also called liquid penetrant Testing (LPT) used to find surface discontinuities in all non porous materials. In this method dye is applied on the surface of object for certain time, after which excess dye is removed from surface of object, the surface is dried and developer is applied on it, the dye which remain in discontinuity is absorbed by developer which shows indication of discontinuity. The penetrant used are either visible dye penetrant or fluorescent dye penetrant. Inspection of visible dye penetrant is do- ne under the white light while inspection of fluorescent dye penetrant is done under ultraviolent light (black light).
