Usage

This medicine highly used for asthma and other difficult disease. It is use to treatment of symptoms related with chronic asthma and other difficult disease of the lungs. It is essentially used as a maintenance therapy. This medicine also used for COPD and bronchospasm. It has shown similar efficacy to theophylline in animal and human studies but with importantly fever side effects. The US FDA granted an orphan drug designation to Doxofylline for the treatment of bronchiectasis. In difference with other xanthine derivatives. Doxofylline does not importantly bind to adenosine alpha-1 or alpha-2 receptors and lacks stimulating effects. It does not affects calcium influx and does not affect calcium influx and also not antagonize the actions of calcium channel blockers which could explain reduced cardiac side reactions as related the drug.

Used as a bronchodilator for the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
