Pre-Treatment:
Good pretreatment is essential if satisfactory dyeing are to be obtained. The effective pretreatment minimizes or eliminates the many sources of the defects.

Dyeing Procedures
Dissolving the dyestuff the dyestuff is pasted with cold water and dissolved by pouring 50 to 100 times its weight of boiling water while stirring. The solution may be boiled to ensure complete dissolution and filtered if necessary.
Direct dyestuffs are dyed from neutral or alkaline dye bath depending on individual dyestuff and other requirements. The dyeing is exhausted with the addition of glauber salt or common salt, the quantities to be added as follows:
For light shades 0.5% Soda ash
5 to 10% Glauber's salt calc. or common salt
For medium and dark shades 1 to 2% Soda ash
15 to 20% Glauber's salt calc. or common salt
