These usually have twisted tufts and often require heat treatment to maintain their form and structure. The word carpet is frequently used interchangeably with the term rug. Some describe a carpet as stretching from wall to wall. Few other definitions treat rugs as of a lower quality or of smaller size. In general carpets often have properly finished ends. And some others define carpet as something fixed permanently in place while rugs are just simply laid out on the floor.
