Dapsone tablets are used to treat a certain type of skin disorder like dermatitis herpetiformis, Leprosy, Tuberculoid or Lepromatous Disease. It can be used with other drugs to treat Hansen's disease. Dapsone tablets belongs to a class of drugs known as Antileprosy Agents. It works by reducing swelling or inflammation and stopping the growth of bacteria. This medicine will not work for viral infections like common cold, flu. Everyday intake of Medicine for heartburn/reducing stomach acid like large amounts of antacids, ranitidine, famotidine, or didanosine may block full absorption of dapsone into your bloodstream, possibly which may reduce its effectiveness. It works by stopping the making of folic acid in certain bacteria, therefore stopping them growing.
