Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc the proportions of zinc and copper can be varied to create a range of brasses with varying properties. It has a shiny yellow colour that darkens over time and is about as dense as bronze but not quite as strong. Brass can be used for entire armor pieces, though it''s usually used as a trim. Over time it oxidizes and darkens; normal wear will maintain it in a semi-polished state. It can be restored to its original color by soaking it in vinegar with a dash of salt for about 30 seconds.
