* The CF flange joint consists of an OFHC (oxygen-free, high- conductivity) copper gasket compressed between two flanges secured with stainless steel fasteners.
* The seal results from the deformation of the copper gasket caused by its compression between the knife edges of the flanges. This compression causes the copper material to flow into and fill any surface discontinuities.
* Systems with copper gaskets may be baked to 932 F (500 C). Fluorocarbon FKM gaskets may be baked to 399 F (204 ); however, sustained baking above 399 F (150 C) may result in deterioration of the gasket.
