The Cathetometer is designed for use in the horizontal and vertical planes. The vertical guide bar is made up of brass and is of special design. It rotates on ball centers having bearings and an be clamped at any position. The cast iron frame supporting the vertical guide bar is fitted with levelling screws.
The sliding carriage is made of metal and is so designed that its motion is tested for uniformity and straightness.
The telescope is mounted on a sub carriage which slides on the main carriage and is moved by a fine pitch screw for line adjustment to the telescope height.
The telescope is fitted with achromatic objective glass.
Ramsden eye piece with fine cross line reticule is provided. Telescope has spirit level for adjustments of levelling purpose. Range from 3ft to infinity; telescope is fitted with rack and pinion. Reading to 0.02 mm or 0.01 mm vernier as desired.
Eye piece ramsden 10 x and objective 2 x or 3 x.
