CRYSTONa c, a product of Silicon carbide bonded with Silicon Nitride has proved to be the best
solution for overcoming the problem of wear in the Burner Tips. The Burner Tips using CRYSTONa c are designed in such a way as to
have total contact of the Coal Stream with CRYSTONa c only. The smooth surface of CRYSTONa c
almost eliminates trubulence and the resultant wear. The wear properties of CRYSTONa c are almost 4
times of that of Nihard and so this gives a longer life. CRYSTONa c is suitable for use upto 1500A C and
so the Boiler Temperature has no effect on this. The new Free Float Design incorporates CRYSTONa c
Plates, which are interlocked and are free to float inside the Steel Frame, thus being immune to the
warping of steel due to elevated temperatures. The Baffle Plates made of CRYSTONa c are excellent in
Erosion Wear at high temperature and they support in proper distribution of coal for optimum firing.
The higher life of the CRYSTONa c reduces the frequency of sshutdown and thus production loss in
shutdown.
