Boric Acid also called boracic acid or orthoboric acid or acidum boricum, is a weak acid often used as an antiseptic, insecticide, flame retardant and a precursor of other chemical compounds. White powder of scaled crystal, feeling greasy, odorless and tasteless, soluble in water, glycerol ether and volatile oil, the water solution indicating weak acidity. when heating to 70-100A C, hydro-extracting gently to change into meta-boric acid; 150-160A C, as pyro-boric acid:300A C, as boric anhydride(B2O3).
