Hard Coke is a core product which is in great demand by a variety of consumers throughout the country engaged in the manufacture of iron and steel and other metal castings, involving melting of metals. For melting metals there are two ways by wich this can be done - i.e. (i) electric process and (ii) by the use of hard coke. In the first method, metal scrap is melted in an Electric Arc Furance and in the second process the scarp and pig iron is charge in a cupola or finance alognwith hard coke, and the enormous heat produced by hard coke while it burns melts the metal charge. Electric Arc Furnance process involves a very heavy capital investment, and it is resorted to only by large scale producers of metal castings, and medium and small scale producers therefore invariably use hard coke. Large scale producers of metal castings are far and dew, in caparison to a large number of medium/small scale industries. Hence hard coke is in great demand.
