Float Cum Boost Chargers:
Float - Cum -Boost charger is functionally a charger. It has two operating modes first Float mode and second boost mode. The DC Power is supply to the load by the Float Charger. It also supplies trickle current to the battery to keep it healthy. The Boost mode is basically meant for quick charging the battery after a heavy discharge, so as to restore the capacity of the battery within minimum time.
Charging equipment:
The charging equipment comprise float cum boost charger. This has two modes of operation Constant voltage mode (float mode) & Constant current mode (boost mode).
In constant voltage mode ita s capable to float 15 no of lead acid battery cells (2 V 100 AH), as well as supplying continuous DC load of 6 ampere.
In constant current mode it is used to charge the battery cells at maximum rate at 10 ampere, as well as supplying DC load of 6 ampere.
During an emergency when AC power fails, the battery set supplies the load & it discharge to certain extent, depending upon duration of emergency. When AC power is restored, the battery needs to recharge in boost mode. The charger will automatically changeover to boost mode after resumption of power supply. During boost charging the charger will supply continuous load of 6 ampere, after completion of boost charging the charger will changeover to float mode automatically.
