Barium sulfate with the chemical formula BaSO4 is a white crystalline solid. Its chemical property is solubility in concentrated sulfuric acid and poor solubility in water and other traditional solvents. The mineral barite is available in nature as a common ore of barium and is mainly barium sulfate.
