- The gas spirals downward to the bottom of the cone and at the bottom the gas flows reverse to form a inner vortex which leaves through the outlet pipe
- In cyclone the gas in addition to moving in a circular path also moves radially
- Since, the tangential velocity of the particles and he gas are same, the relative velocity between gas and particle is simply equal to the radial velocity of gas
This results a drag force on the particle towards the center
Generally the collection efficiency is a function of increasing function of radial velocity
As the diameter of the particle increases or as the cross sectional area of the inlet decreases, radial velocity will increase appreciably, resulting in an increase in efficiency but with a high pressure drop
