Artemether is an

reacts with ferriprotoporphyrin IX (heme) or ferrous ions in the acidic
parasite feeding vacuole and causing cytotoxic radical species. The
peroxide-containing drug's acknowledged method of action involves its
interaction with heme (a result of hemoglobin breakdown), which is produced
from hemoglobin proteolysis. As a result of this interaction, harmful oxygen
and carbon-centered radicals are formed.
Warnings for Taking Artemether:
- Pregnancy: Pregnant women should not use this medication unless absolutely essential. Because the impact of this treatment on pregnancy is unknown, it should be taken only in life-threatening conditions.
- Breast-feeding: It is not suggested to use this medication during nursing unless absolutely essential. Your doctor will decide whether or not you should take this medication.
- Severe malaria: This antibiotic should only be used to treat malaria when other treatments, such as quinine, have proven unsuccessful.
