Alloy A286

A-286 alloy is an age-hardenable iron base superalloy for applications requiring high strength from -320A F up to 1000A F long time, 1300-1500A F short time. Oxidation resistance is high for continuous service to 1500A F, intermittent to 1800A F. Aqueous corrosion resistance is comparable to 316/316L stainless. Heat treatment according to AMS 5525 requires a solution anneal at 1800A F, air cool. Age at 1325A F for 16 hours and then air cool. Used when ease of welding and brazing in fabrication is required. Custom 450, unlike many precipitation hardening grades, Custom 450 can be used in the annealed condition.
