Adenosine injection is a sterile solution for rapid bolus intravenous injection. Each mL contains 3 mg adenosine USP and 9 mg sodium chloride USP in Water for Injection USP. The pH of the solution is between 4.5 and 7.5. Adenosine is the primary drug used in the treatment of stable narrow-complex SVT (supraventricular Tachycardia). It can now also be used for regular monomorphic wide-complex tachycardia. When given as a rapid IV bolus, adenosine slows cardiac conduction particularly affecting conduction through the AV node.
