Abhayrab

Abhayrab prevents and protects Human beings from Rabies caused by a virus known as rhabdovirus.

ABHAYRAB (Purified Vero Cell Rabies Vaccine BP) Inactivated freeze-dried vaccine with diluent for Intra-muscular or Intra-dermal Injection.

Indications:
a c For active immunization against Rabies both for prophylaxis and post-bite therapy in all age groups of humans
a c For immunizing against Rabies after exposure (after contact with a rabid or suspected rabid animal).
a c For prophylactic immunization of all high-risk group of persons such as Veterinarians, Municipal workers, Medical and Paramedical personnel, Forest and Zoo personnel, Hunters, Laboratory personnel working with suspected Rabies materials and Pet owners.
Posology and method of administration:

Pre-exposure Prophylaxis: (Intra-muscular or Sub-cutaneous Injection):
a c Three immunization doses on 0, 7 and 21 or 28 days followed by annual booster vaccination.
Post-Exposure: (Intra-muscular Injection):
a c Five immunizing doses on post exposure days 0, 3, 7, 14, 28.

Administration:
Abhayrab Freeze dried vaccine should be reconstituted with 0.5 mL of the diluent supplied along with the vaccine. The reconstituted vaccine should be administered immediately and should not be stored for administration later.
Abhayrab should be administered intra-muscularly in the deltoid region in adults and children
Abhayrab under no circumstances should be administered intra-venously.
