Due to the ambient temperature over high or current overload caused by the abnormal work of the electrics, the double metal inside the 17AM thermal protector will trip fast, the two contact break up to cut off the power, meanwhile, the voltage by breaking up the contact will be used for the PTC heating element, which will generate the sufficient heat to keep the protector on the trip status. Only the power is cut off, the contact can be connected again.(Manual reset function).
