TOPIC : Service Tax - GTA

Dear Sirs,
I am a SSI manufacturer-exporter of WEIGHTS since 1961. And since 1972 more than 75% of my production is export to overseas.

We pay truck freight of about Rs. two lacs per year on our export cargo to be delivered to ocean port and beside this we do not have to pay any transport freight on any other account. We are also giving any service but only we are a manufacturer. We are paying Service Tax and submitting service tax return in due time.

But the central excise department is harassing by asking the details of several accounts such as details of inward and out ward transport freight, xerox of consignment notes, audited profit and loss account, purchase registers, details of raw materials. I am a two men office and can not afford to hire additional staff. The department of Service tax says that the exemption limit of Rs. ten lacs is not applicable for GTA ( for consignee or consignor).Due to this mental harassment, I sometime can pay urgent attention to my promotion of export.

Can you suggest for a solution from this pity situation from the bureaucracy of our country.
Regards, S.K.Singhania
