TOPIC : Suppliers who are not honest

Before we joined trade in India we did business with a big firm and company. The problem we faced was the payment of our commission for getting them entry to our big buyers and in getting very big orders.

Once the goods are shipped and paid for, they told me they would pay in 10 days. However after many days we where told to forget getting paid.

So what do I do to take action against these two companies in India. I have place them on the black list so if they ever come back to South Africa they will be attached by the fraud squad. I would like to know how I can get paid approx USD 60,000.

All the best

Dear Simon Ross

I sympathise with you in your fraud case- but also know that sympathy is of no use when $60,000 is at stake.

You should report this matter to the MEA of India and also to all the business forums and Chambers of commerces,Export promotion councils related to your product- all over India.

Besides this, leading advertisements in all major English newspapers here would surely attract negative publicity for this rogue company, and in the long term would harm them much more than they have harmed you.

Since you cannot realise this money by straight means, you might as well spend some more and create life difficult for this company. However, you must have proper proofs available to substantiate your aforesaid claims.

Hope you get results.

Dear Mr. Simon,

It is well said that "prevention is better then cure" However Whatever happened with you is against the business ethics. I feel you should contact the supplier(s) again and intimate that you are reporting to Indian Embassies in SA and SA consulate in US. clearly indicating them if they are declared black listed they will not be able to export anything to any country. Give them some time i.e. 15 days or more & then do the necessary action against the party.

I hope you need not to do this activities they will pay you the amount you are entitled to get.

All the Best.

Dear Simon,

You should contact again with that party & said that if you did not give our commission then we have to complain about your company to some of the organisation so that in next time you did not trade with any overseas buyer.

If they will not give your commission then you take help of Indian embassy in South Africa (www.india.org.za), & South African embassy in India (www.sahc-india.com). Both embassy suggest you what will you take action against that party.
