Starting an import-export business may seem daunting, but for a business with relatively few startup costs, the rewards of importing-exporting are definitely worth it. Importers/exporters typically earn big bucks.
With a little organization and perseverance, there is nothing stopping you from turning a small start-up into a thriving import/export company. To be fair, importing/exporting involves an endless list of details.
Having said that it is also very easy if certain criteria are followed. Now, armed with the Internet one can access valuable market information and find foreign buyers and local suppliers, anywhere, anytime.
Here are a few dos on should take into consideration before starting an export-import business: (a) assess your export business potential, (b) get expert export business counseling, (c) select your export business markets, (d) formulate an export business strategy, and (e) select a selling technique.

Dear Mr. Dhruba Baruah,
I appreciate your points how to kickstart an Exim company and your conceptual advises.
Your website www.tradeindia.com is great in providing many aspects of exports and you deserve special congratulations for the same.
Having started an exports company, listed with tradeindia, and with other B2B sites, we get good response from buyers/traders.
Now a days I feel that more number of non-serious enquiries are being made at the a cost of single click.
We, as export companies, try to give good (even cost to cost some times) quotations and sending samples as mentioned/required by the inquirer. But the ultimate response we are getting Zero from the buyers especially those who ask quotations through B2B sites.
It would be very helpful if you can evolve/suggest some strategy
to avoid non-serious inquiries on B2B sites.
