Q. Why is the transformer core laminated?
Answer
Transformer core is laminated to reduce the energy loss due to Eddy currents. Due to energy exchange between two coils, Eddy current causes energy loss in the form of heat dissipation in the material. To avoid this situation, the core of a transformer is laminated.
