80% of titanium dioxide rutile is used in the making of paints coatings varnishes inks paper and plastics. TiO2 is used in thin films with high refractive index; as a tattoo pigment a ceramic glazer a food additive and a UV absorber and thickener in sunscreen cosmetic products.
