Creams are oil-in-water emulsions that are semi-solid. Oil-in-water (O/W) creams which are made up of small droplets of oil scattered in a continuous water phase and water-in-oil (W/O) creams which are made up of small droplets of water dispersed in a continuous oily phase are the two varieties.
