Q. What is another name for clay dolls?
Answer
Clay dolls are also known as clay sculptures. Krishnanagar, a city in west Bengal, is home to a clay doll tradition that dates back 250 years. For some reason, this kind of transportation is all the rage amongst travelers from other countries. Dolls made of heated clay are called ceramics. The doll starts out with a clay body. The clay form is then cut in half and hollowed out, leaving a shell that is only a centimeter or so thick. When the two pieces are rejoined, they undergo a smoothing process, a thorough drying process, and finally a firing in a kiln. Clay dolls can be purchased in Puilya, Tantiberai, Tulsiberai, Sariyala - Balipota, and Midnapore, in addition to Krishna Nagar.
