However there is also a slang meaning for a cherry picker. In this term a cherry picker is a person who reaps the maximum rewards by putting in the least effort solely by being around the goalpost. For example a footballer hovering around the goalpost whose only job is to connect the long ball to the goal and goes away with all the credit. Similarly an office colleague who does not put in any effort in team exercises gets all the due credit because he got to present the idea to the management.
