Q. Is the canvas roll primed?
Answer
In order to avoid the necessity for any sort of surface preparation prior to painting the canvas rolls are double-primed. The rolls are LDPE shrink-wrapped to preserve their pristine condition throughout transport and storage. In most cases don’t need to use gesso when priming a stretched canvas that purchases from a store. The gesso can be thinned by up to 20% with water. Blend well. If wishing the gesso to really soak into the canvas fibers and be easy to distribute dilute it especially for the first coat. Acrylic gesso dries quickly and is not water-soluble so have a paper towel nearby to wipe up any spills or the stirrer.
