Softer than cotton on average Tencel fabric has a more luxurious feel. The smooth surface is the reason for its suppleness. This makes it not only pleasant to the touch but also exceedingly gentle on even the most delicate skin. It mitigates two of the most prevalent complaints about cotton sheets—their scratchiness and their inclination to rattle loudly. To a large extent Tencel is wear-resistant and doesn't thin down with time. The typical sensation of a set of sheets made from Tencel is velvety soft. Cotton on the other hand may be woven into incredibly smooth and soft sheets that will only improve with time.
