Q. Is tencel sustainable?
Answer
The Lyocell and Modal fibers used to make TENCEL are derived from responsibly harvested wood pulp. They are certified as BioPreferred® by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture). TÜV Austria Belgium NV has confirmed that all standard TENCEL Lyocell and Modal fiber types are biodegradable and compostable under industrial, residential, soil, and marine circumstances. The EU Ecolabel is a globally recognized environmental quality label, and it has been given to Tencel Modal fibers for their superior environmental performance throughout their whole lifespan. Products that earn the designation have been evaluated on their ability to meet rigorous environmental and performance standards by a third party.
