Q. How does an X-ray baggage scanner works?

An X-ray bagger scanner sends X-rays from one side that is received by detectors on the opposite side. As bag enters the tunnel via conveyor belt it absorbs some radiations and the data is recorded. Different materials absorb different density of X-rays that is calculated to examine the object.
