Q. How do fan remote controls work?
Answer
The information sent from the remote control to the fan's power source is transmitted through a transmitter and a receiver in ceiling fans that may be operated remotely. The manner in which the fan reacts is determined by the frequency of the transmission that takes place between the transmitter and the receiver that is installed in the fan and connected to the power supply. In a nutshell when everything is working as it should the remote transmitter will send a signal to a receiver that is built inside the ceiling fan. This signal will provide the fan with some basic instructions.
