Q. Are wooden door handles standard sizes?

Wooden door handles come in pretty much all standard sizes. While 2 3/8 inches (60 mm) and 2 3/4 inches (70mm) are the most common size for D pull door handles in the West in India the standard sizes are typically slightly larger (95 - 100mm for D pull handles). Another important thing to bear in mind while shopping for wooden door handles is that while most modern wooden doors are compatible with lever door handles doorknobs and pull handles of industry-standard size older wooden doors typically used slightly smaller to significantly smaller door handles. As such it might be a laborious (if not impossible) job to retrofit a modern door handle on an older wooden door. However it might be possible to retrofit modern round doorknobs into an existing cavity of an older round doorknob with some expertise.
