Cherry pickers are a relatively safe mechanical device. Given the application area more protective gear is used to make its operation safer. For example a person who is repairing the power lines needs to be wearing necessary precautionary gear that prevents him from receiving an electric shock. Similarly the platform on which he is raised must be completely rubber matted to ensure no conduction of electricity. Similarly those working with fruit harvesting need to be aware of the hazards of falling trees and branches while also being careful to not disturb bird life.
